ed

Hello everyone,

My name is Ed and four years ago at the age of 47, I was 272 pounds and my waist was 46 inches.  On February 5, 2005, I decided that my life was too important to me and my family to continue on this path of destruction.  So I decided to do something about my health.  I knew that it was not going to be easy.  I had to break old and nasty eating habits as well as the lack of physical activity in my life.  I was in a horrible rut!!!  I felt that I was in a hole and that it was impossible for me to climb out of that hole.  With a busy career and having to run a business I always found excuse after excuse not to get myself in shape.  But on that day in February, with the help of my family, I went in the kitchen and emptied the kitchen cabinets as well as the refrigerator of all the junk food.  Then I decided to educate myself in how best to change my diet and my physical activity.  I began researching the latest in healthy eating and exercise.  I also subscribed to health magazines and other literature that would help me achieve my goal.

At first, since I was too heavy, I only increased my physical activity by walking three times a week.  As the weight began to come off, I then increased my exercise. By October of that same year, I had lost some weight.  That same year my father was diagnosed with lung cancer and I had every excuse to fall off the wagon and go to my old habits.  But I did not.  I figured that by being healthy I was able to care better for my Dad when he needed me the most.  I spent many a nights at the hospital with him and I know that my physical condition and newfound confidence was crucial in being able to care for him.  My father did pass away on January 2006, but he did get to see me lose the weight which was always something that concerned him for my well being.

I continued to keep my weight off and my healthy lifestyle throughout 2006 and 2007.  However, I need it motivation to stay focus and more importantly, not to go back to my old habits. That is when I made one of the best decisions in my life; I hired a personal trainer, Luis Behar from Gables Fitness.

I began training in June 2008 and continue to do so today.  I have lost a total of 103 pounds and today I have a 32 waist – that is 14 inches off!!!!  My trainer is amazing!! He combines weight resistance total body workout for building muscle mass, with cardio such as boxing to blast the fat off my body.  He keeps my workouts interesting by combining different routines and always keeping my body guessing.  He is always introducing the latest in equipment such as TRX suspension training into my workout routine. Luis has been instrumental in my ability to achieve and keep my fitness goals. With his partner, Glenn Greer, they have both shown me that they are just as committed as I am to my long term goal of a healthy and fit lifestyle.

Based on their suggestions, I changed from eating three large meals a day to six smaller ones spread throughout the day.  Then for each of those meals, I make protein the focus and complex carbs and good fats the side addition.

It has been an amazing experience!!  Has it been easy?  Not one bit!  Rewarding?  You better believe it!!!!  I know that I am a better person for having changed my life the way I did – and that is in every aspect of my life!!  I am a better husband, father and grandfather – three times over at 52 years young!!!  I feel better and look better today than I ever did!!

I know you have heard this before – if I can do it – you can do it!!  Well, I won’t repeat it but it’s true.  Is it going to be easy? – Hell no!  But then again, anything in life worth achieving is not.  But the reward is priceless.  Forget about the way you are going to look – that is the icing on the cake – or should I say – on the bowl of fruit!  It is the way you are going to feel physically and more importantly, emotionally that makes this worth it!!  Your self confidence is going to blast off!! You are going to feel that you can conquer the world.  I know you may not feel like that at this time, but mark my word, you will.

I read this somewhere and I cannot take credit for it but here it is – if it does not have a mother or is not made by nature – DON’T EAT IT!!!  I live by that rule and it works!!

Eat healthy – get active – is a simple rule (I did not say easy)
BUT YOU CAN DO IT!!

Good luck to all of you out there – and now get in the gym – a healthier you is waiting!!!

As a practicing physician in Miami for the past 25 years I have become very frustrated with traditional weight loss models. I’ve offered them all to my patients, Medifast, Opt fast, Weight Watchers, Atkins, South Beach, you name it and I’ve tried it. I’m sure of one thing- They all work– BUT None of them work. They all result in weight loss for the short term but none of them have worked for my patients for more than a month or so. Thats why I’ve teamed up with Glenn Greer and his partner Luis Behar from Gables Fitness. We have come up with the finest weight loss, fitness program available. It’s the finest because it is strictly medically supervised and because the patient/client gets the benefit of 50 years of experience in the weight loss and fitness arena. Nothing good comes easy! We know that and we want our patients to know that but to also understand that we are committed as a team to make this work. We will be available to them 24 hours a day 7 days a week to help them achieve their goal of a healthier, fit self. We are limiting our V.I.P (Very Important Patient Program) to 10 people at a time so that we can give each and everyone the time and team effort they require. Join our team and they can’t lose. We wont let them.

Hello my name is Terri,
I am a typical busy professional working woman with kids. My family has always been my priority and my schedule is based around taking care of them. My free time was at night when homework, after school sports/activities, and dinner were done, usually 15 hours after my day had started!
I had a gradual weight gain each of the past 3 years – not a lot each year but accumulated a total extra of 25 to 30 pounds. I did not like how my clothes fit nor was I happy with how I looked. The low point for me was when my wedding ring became too tight to wear.
I started thinking about getting myself back in shape last January (New Year’s Resolution- we all know how that goes- a lot of thinking but no action!) but couldn’t figure out how to make the time. I even went so far as to visit Gables Fitness and meet with Glenn & Luis.
In the summer when school was out & schedules are less hectic I finally realized that I needed to take back some time for myself-that no one was going to give it to me. Unless I made it a priority it was was not going to happen. I started walking 2-3 miles, 3 x a week when I would drop my son off to his early evening practice in the Grove.
Shortly after that, I decided to revisit Gables Fitness and tried their free trial workout session. I looked at my schedule and realized the only time that no one else needed or wanted me was in the early morning! I made the commitment to myself that exercising was more important than an extra 30 minutes of sleep and signed of to train at 5:30 in the morning. This is the best thing I have done for myself in years.
In the first 30 days- I lost 6 lbs and a total of 6.5 inches, but more importantly is how much better I feel- physically and mentally. I have more energy and feel I have reduced some of the stress in my life.
We all are given the same 24 hours in a day- the personal decision we all face is what to do with it.

After training at various gyms for the last ten years, I was truly impressed with the program at Gables Fitness.  Glenn Greer and Luis Behar’s training knowledge and enthusiasm inspired me to take my health and physique to the next level.  Glenn’s knowledge of nutrition and its interplay with weight training and flexibility exercises was an added bonus to the whole experience.  The “Thirty in a Hurry” program is indispensable for a busy mother of two with a full time job.  I highly recommend Gables Fitness for anyone on a fitness quest determined to make serious life changes in order to get fabulous results!

Aida Testimonial

Let’s face it, making the decision to live a healthier lifestyle is very difficult. It requires discipline, educating yourself, eating healthier foods and definitely exercising. I had done all of these to a certain degree, but I knew that I needed to take it to the next level. Here is where the team at Gables Fitness comes in.

First, I really hesitated in making the phone call to Gables Fitness because I had called other gyms before and had encountered people who were unwilling and oftentimes careless in answering my questions. When I finally decided to call, Luis Behar answered the phone and proceeded to talk to me and explain the benefits of his program. I half expected him to hurry off the phone, but he made me feel like he cared about my questions and doubts. Needless to say, I was encouraged to come in the very next day and try the workout. I immediately signed up!

The best thing about this workout is that it is only thirty minutes. This is perfect for someone like me who is A) lazy and B) does not like weight training. The one on one attention you get from your trainer (in my case Luis) is amazing. These guys have really put a lot of effort into learning all they can about nutrition, weight-lifting and everything involved in losing weight and getting into shape. This is their business and they make it a point to be knowledgeable. Their clients will know they are dealing with professionals. They make sure you, the client, also educate yourself in all aspects of your endeavor to better yourself. They want you to have their knowledge so that you can make informed decisions based on proven concepts, not myths.

Finally, my experience! Gables Fitness has been nothing but great. I lost the weight that I needed to lose by following their advice. I eat six small meals a day (which they’ll even plan for you if you like), do strength-training twice a week and cardiovascular exercise four to five times per week. Every day it is a challenge to stick to my commitment, but all of these components combined with the encouragement from Luis and Glenn, have helped me achieve my goals in living a healthier lifestyle in a body I can feel good in. In other words, they definitely helped me take it to the next level.

Thank you so much for changing my body and my health life.
